Michigan State vs. Notre Dame

Notre Dame

Widow’s CFB Free Pick for Saturday:

1* on Notre Dame -10

Notre Dame returns home to recover from a crushing loss to Michigan. It would be tough for most teams to come back from a loss like that, but not for this experienced Fighting Irish squad. That’s especially the case with Michigan State coming to town, a team that has had Notre Dame’s number to say the least. Maybe the only team less intimidated by the Touchdown Jesus surroundings in South Bend is USC compared to Michigan State. The Spartans are 1-1 after being upset by Central Michigan and have won six straight at Notre Dame Stadium, five as an underdog. We’re going against that trend Saturday because the fact of the matter is that Notre Dame is far and away the more talented team. They beat a very good Nevada squad 35-0 in their home opener in Week 1. The Spartans are having to break in a new quarterback this season, and the loss of RB Javon Ringer has been felt already. Central Michigan passed for 352 yards on the Spartans last week, so look for Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen and his talented trio of receivers to have a field day Saturday. Michigan State is 7-20 ATS (-15.0 Units) off an upset loss as a favorite since 1992. The Fighting Irish are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite of 3.5-10.0. The Spartans are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog. Take Notre Dame and lay the points.

Texas Tech vs. Texas
Texas Tech
+18½-110
at  SPBOOK
On Saturday the system club play is on Texas Tech. Game 183 at 8;00 eastern. These plays are 10-5 since last season. Today we play against Texas. The Longhorns fit into a negative system that has cashed 17 of 21 times. What we want to do is play against game 3 conference home favorites of 5 or more points if they are off back to back non conference wins of 10 or more and 21 or more and are taking on an opponent who has won 10 or more of their last 22 games. The Red Raiders are large dogs here today. However they have played well early on and will play well here tonight. This is a big rivalry, and while most feel Texas will win big,its worth noting that they are just 1-7 against the spread with revenge, vs an opponent off back to back wins. Take the generous points here as this game is much closer than expected. On Saturday I have the Big college Game of the month going as well as 2 plays from a solid 28-4 system that is 4-1 this year. I also have a big Blowout system play and the ACC 96% Mismatch system side. Last weeks dog of the week won outright with Michigan. This weeks big dog will too. Dont miss any of these big plays. Most go early this week. Jump on and cash out this weekend. Take the Texas.Tech plus the points as the system club play. BOL RV.

Bowling Green vs. Marshall
Marshall
+3-110
at  SIA
Marshall has looked horrible in its first two games while Bowling Green has looked great in its first two games. So who do you think we are going with here? The Thundering Herd were dismantled at Virginia Tech last weekend and we cashed a ticket going against them. It was a horrible spot for Marshall as it was facing a Virginia Tech team that was out for blood following its loss against Alabama the previous week. Add to that, Marshall went into that game only 3-21 on the road under head coach Mark Snyder. It is now home again and will look to bounce back not only from that loss but also from its first home game against Southern Illinois where it escaped with a 31-28 victory. Bowling Green opened the season with a home win over Troy but I think people are taking that win a little too importantly as the Trojans are good but not as good when leaving home in a non-conference game. The Falcons played great last week at Missouri as they lost by just a touchdown in a game they led for the majority of. Losing a game like that is tough to overcome especially for a team from the MAC when it was against a BCS conference team. It can be argued that a team can carry some confidence forward from a loss like that but Im not buying into that here. The Falcons host Boise St. next week so this is more of a sandwich game than anything else. Marshall found itself in a similar spot last season. It defeated FCS team Illinois St. then went on the road and got pounded at Wisconsin. It then came back home and won the following week and even though that happened to be a conference game, there may be something to prove this weekend. For the first time since leaving for C-USA, Marshall takes on a team from the MAC. Lets not forget that this is where Marshall came from and this should be a statement game for not only the team, but everyone in the athletic department and all those involved. Bowling Green brings in a strong offense but one that is not the same as what Marshall saw last week against Virginia Tech. The Falcons bring in an up-tempo, pass heavy attack that the Herd have dealt with many times with Tulsa, Houston and Rice from C-USA’s West Division. Over the last two seasons, Marshall is 2-4 against those three teams but only one of those games was decided by more than seven points and that was the game at Rice last season. Marshall went 2-1 in the game at home, losing to Tulsa last season by just a field goal. The Thundering Herd should be able to win this one outright as get some of their respect back. 3* Marshall Thundering Herd

Fargo bounced back huge in Week Two as he went 4-1 ATS with his Saturday NCAA Premium Play Card! The same happened last season after a rough Week One as he came back strong by going 56-30-8 ATS (65.1%) the next 10 weeks and plans on a repeat! His biggest report so far in 2009 (first 10*) goes Saturday with his ACC GAME OF THE YEAR! Do not be on the wrong side!

Nebraska vs. Virginia Tech
Nebraska
+5-107
at  5DIMES
Nebraska @ Virginia Tech -4.5

Nebraska has blown out and dominated 2 weak sisters, and have not allowed an offensive TD all year as Bo Pellini?s stamp on the defense is apparent and the blackshirts are fired up. QB Lee for Nebraska is a young Turner Gill prototype and has the tools both through the air and running it to give defense?s fits, and NU will need that versus a solid VT defense. Doubt Nebraska resembles Marshalls offense for VT to shut down and or roll up points on like last week. This was a 35-30 game last year in Lincoln, and Nebraska has a better defense this year with Suh leading the way, this DL will give VT some issues in a hard fought game. I would grab the points here. Virginia Tech 20 NU 17
BONUS PLAY
Tulsa @ Oklahoma +16.5
Much like BYU, a spread type attack and some really good players for Hurricanes might give OU a game here. While losing QB Bradford a HUGE hit for OU, they hope to have him back by the Texas game, at least they better! The Sooners defense was exposed a little against BYU, and I see Tulsa, who averages 40 ppg while allowing only 11 a formidable in state foe for big brother OU. Tulsa QB Kinne had 4 TD passes last week, and has enough weapons to trade punches with OU and keep it under the Number. Oklahoma 38 Tulsa 24

Middle Tenn St vs. Maryland
Middle Tenn St
+7-106
at  5DIMES
Take: (195) MID TENNESSEE STATE. Reason: This is an interesting Middle Tennessee State (1-1 SU, 1-0 ATS) team, off a 5-7 SU/ATS season, but ten starters return, and that doesn’t include QB Dwight Dasher, one of the stars of the 2007 team. 7 starters return to the defense. The receiving corps is very talented and the backfield is loaded with speed for new offensive coordinator Tony Franklin. Dasher was outstanding Saturday in a 31-14 rout of Memphis, as MTS had the edge in yards 436 to 219. Middle Tennessee has been tough in non-conference play, upsetting Maryland last year (24-14) and losing 20-14 at Kentucky. Maryland (1-1 SU/0-1 ATS) got blasted at Cal in the opener, 52-13 defeat, and rallied Saturday for a 38-35 win over James Madison in OT, giving up 417 yards (268 rushing). Middle Tennessee rolled up 402 yards on Maryland last season. Play Middle Tennessee State.
